Bellinzona station was officially opened on the 14th of October in the presence of SBB CEO Andreas Meyer, Mayor of Bellinzona Mario Branda and Cantonal Councillor Claudio Zali, marking the completion of extensive modernisation and expansion work costing CHF 36 million. The "Porta del Ticino" offers customers an attractive range of shops and services boasting more space and more light. The station is now all set for when the Gotthard Base Tunnel is placed in service on 11 December.

SBB is looking for an investor in its renowned training and conference centre in Murten Loewenberg. The company will sell the space as part of a sale-and-rent-back scheme and then rent it long-term.
