Why digitalisation will revolutionise building construction and management.

Drawing up plans using tracing paper and CAD is a thing of the past. These outdated methods have been replaced by three-dimensional integral projects thanks to BIM (building information modelling). Yet this is only the beginning of a trend that is set to revolutionise building construction and, in particular, building management. After all, as far as the real estate sector is concerned, BIM is just one link in the digital transformation chain.

In the video below, I explain why digitalisation has to be a top priority, how SBB Real Estate is driving forward the digital revolution in development projects and what the future still has in store for SBB in terms of innovations and BIM.

SBB is primarily interested in digitalisation’s effect on more efficient building operations.

The NZZ recently interviewed me about digital construction. The full interview (in German) was published in the newspaper’s special “Zukunft Bauen” (“Future of construction”) supplement on 9 November 2018.
